Torrox is an important city in the region of Axarquia, whose urban nucleus is found inland. It does have a large section of this area along the Mediterrenean Coast of the eastern side of the Costa del Sol. Torrox has a population of 20,000 inhabitants many of those people are part of the german colony that has gathered in this lovely area.
The municipality of Torrox measures approximately 50 squared kilometers in the heart of the region of Axarquia. It has great access to nearby localities such as Nerja, Velez Malaga (the capital of Axarquia).
Livestock, agriculture and fishing have traditionally been the main source of income for Torrox. In the last decades things have changed making tourism it's main source of income. More so german tourism has come here and stayed making it one of the biggest german colonies in Spain, only surpassed with one in Mallorca.
Excellent gastronomy, good offer in restaurants, bars, pubs...an excellent culture offer as well as numerous activities to take part in such as golf, diving, trekking, and sightseeing. All of this has great weather and beautiful beaches to add on to the great package.
As a tourist city it has a great amount of accomodations to offer. Apartments, hotels, hostels etc...all in which you can stay during your holidays in Torrox. You can choose from staying along the coast or staying closer to the mountain side all within a 15 minute distance by car.
Near the eastern side of the Costa del sol, with municipalities such as Marbella, Malaga, and Costa Tropical...all towns near Axarqui, are known for their beauty and it's surroundings. The Natural Park of la Sierra Tejeda and it's pine trees are a sight to see.
